Araki and Teller – Teller and Araki

April 4, 2014

Vienna's OstLicht Gallery presents the exhibition "Araki Teller Teller Araki" – open from 4 April to 25 May 2014
Initiated by Vienna's OstLicht Gallery in collaboration with Peter Coeln, the exhibition Araki Teller Teller Araki unites two of the most significant photographers of our time, resulting in an extraordinary visual dialogue. Their latest works, which were specifically created for this joint exhibition, will be on display from 4 April 2014.

Eroticism versus physical perfection
The unique imagery of Nobuyoshi Araki is based on a part poetic, part provocative depiction of human desires. Juergen Teller's work also explores, and often questions our concepts of physicality and sexuality. With an ironic view of our culture's pursuit of a beauty ideal, his pictures are an attempt to determine just how close to reality you can get with a photographic image.

These two individual approaches now encounter one another in the artists' first shared exhibition: a meeting of two remarkable contemporary photographers, both of whom are driven by an uncompromising artistic stance and an insatiable hunger to create images that reflect their experience of the world.
